If it had VVT it probably had solid lifters. I have a late '99/2000 NA head sitting in my shed right now with intake VVT and it has solid lifters.

Steve, that parts car of yours must have had a B5254T or B5244T head on it. No way did ANY non turbo engine from 1999 up to 2002 have exhaust VVT from the factory. Look it up on Vida, which is always 100% correct of course.

E Showell, since you're in Long Valley, NJ, maybe the guys who took over Larry's Garage (the Volvo god) would be interested in it.

When my 2000 V70 stick shift engine seized, I ordered a 100k mi used one from Eerie Volvo up in NY. I've put 110k miles on that engine and it's still going strong. Yes, the engine swap was expensive at almost $10k for parts and labor back in 2010, but I'm glad that I did it.

Yes, we must acknowledge that your 1999 is 9 years older than my car was when I had the swap done, making it that much less reasonable. But for anyone considering this project, know that Eerie Volvo sold me a great engine.

(If you get an engine delivered by freight, be sure to reseal the oil sump before installing it. My replacement engine oil sump has had a slight leak for all the years that I've used it. I recently realized it may have been caused by the engine resting on its base, shifting around during transportation. Maybe I'll reseal it someday.)

I've gone the Erie route before with another vehicle. Not worth it, in my view, for an almost 20 year old car. I would, instead, harvest an engine from Harry's and put it in myself, but I just don't have the time and won't before snow flies.

Steve, for you, I've got some time. Ideally, gone by the end of September. I may pull the high end stereo stuff though.

Comes with spare drivers door, spare passenger side front fender, and I think I can wrangle up a spare set of alloy wheels for snow tires.

Preparing for trial, earliest I could deal with it is week of 9/10.
