2005 V70NAM56 abs brake code BCM-0070

Post by abscate »

Alldata shows this as a bad 12V supply to The ABS pump

New ABS pump is only $1793.17 ...ouch.

Part number 30793490

Checked both number 14 and19 fuses under hood, both visually good.

Could it be a problem with the connector? That connector is the worst in the whole car, I was scratching my head for 2 minutes how to remove it (once I got the idea is a breeze, but it looks designed like a top secret device)

The pump itself doesn't fail that often, removing one from the scrap is fairly easy (ideally removed without the small bearing). The brushes may wear in the areas with longer winters. I guess the STC/DSTC can also wear the pump if the wheels spin often times when accelerating in show (such as in heavier city traffic). I always turn off the STC when starting the car in city driving, right after attaching the seat belt.

Backplaned the connector and had solid B+ a time motor power terminals. No sign of corrosion.

Cleared code, drove car around all day. No codes.

Monitor for next time.

ABS message returned, have not checked code yet. Will do today. It cleared on self test,

I should probably start hunting for a PnP ABS pump , part with STC?

If the ABS power supply is fed by the same two pins on most of the older ABS units, I'd be looking at the ABS unit (or BCM as it's known) as the culprit.

ABS pumps have a very low incidence of failure.

No codes this morning. That sure points to BCM - does MattyMoo do these P2s?

I dealt with BBA-Reman out of Massachusetts. I had them do my P2 DIM and a Buick DIM repair. I have been planning to have them re-build by BCM ($85 price on ebay), but still have higher priority issues trying to stage 0.

BTW you can command the pump on through Vida-Activations, but the likelihood of pulsing it at the time of failure is pretty scarce. I don't think Matty deals with these but you should check with him.

My 2001 DSTC unit on my T5 needs resoldering...the usual front left wheel sensor and ABS pump failure codes. Only happens once the engine bay accumulates some heat.
