hitting 3000 revs

You're my last hope!
I have a Volvo v70 2.4 diesel not a 100% sure which one, but if needed will look on V5
its on 155,000 miles and has been the best car ever!!
When i hit 3k revs! the management light comes on and goes into a slow down mode, i then clear it with the button on the end of indicator stem and it clears up, and carry's on. Doesn't matter what gear i'm in, but i'm usually in 6th it just goes into limp mode as soon as this point is reached
The weird thing is, once its been cleared the card can go over the 3k mark No Problem, I've yet to really push it (as want to keep it forever)but it will go over the 3k mark after I've cleared the error while still driving
taken it to Garage and they've cleared all the codes but no joy!

I Love my Volvo as most of us do and would love to sort this, can anyone shed any light?
