2005 XC70, XC90 front sway bar installed, 30635778, longevity?

Yes my car is FWD. So in my case a T5 rear sway bar might be a good upgrade, and you don't think the ipd's will last long. I assume it's the bushings that wear out?

You also mentioned replacement of your subframe bushings. What was your experience there? Been reading about that most of the day.

With the new subframe bushings (and new engine mounts) I feel no vibration on the steering wheel Changing them is that not bad.

Yes, bushings. Coat powder paint chips quickly too. My IPD toe rods look so ugly just after one winter. These fake slushy salty Boston winters with temperatures jumping around freezing point is killing cars. They last longer even in much colder climates.

How thick is your current rear sway bar (in mm)? Also bar's torque characteristics depends on the kind of steel used and how it was heat-treated, so same diameter may give you different results, don't rely fully on diameter alone.

So the XC90 sway bar bushings died in one year. Rattles are all over the place, both LCAs have scratches from the bar touching them :

I had a very hard time locating the same rattle. Indeed when the bar to subframe bushings go bad, the bar touches the control arm with a knock that usually starts 15 min after driving the car especially in warmer days. Shown at the end of the video this area: the dents are barely visible and not shiny, realy just a very small nick in the cast line of the arm. Note that at rest the sway bar seems to stay away from the arm, but this changes as the car is moving

The bar can be moved backwards (away from engine) 1-2 mm, that will help. My scratches were not gentle, but moving the bar backwards fully cured it.

The mild rattling noise/vibration/oscillation was not fixed unfortunately. Next thing I'll try is tightening my steering rack, this is the only thing left from the donor car.

The steering rack decided to give up, resulting in a progressing noticeable play, so I replaced it. The noise is still here.

The last ultimate bit left from the donor car is the exhaust. It does not sound like rattling cat found in numerous youtube videos, but anything can go wrong with it after 240k miles.
