99 v70 xc camshaft position sensor

Had a code pop up said the camshaft position sensor was out or mall functioning. But it was still running so I continue driving till payday. It dies on my way home. So I replace the camshaft sensor tonight and first try it starts for a sec then dies and doesnt come back on. It is getting gas and spark. Did I just get a faulty part or does anyone have another suggestion.

Try pulling the battery cable for 20 minutes and letting the ECU reset. Could be as simple as it got used to driving with a bad sensor and now that the sensor is good again, it doesn't know how to respond.

I pulled it off and it didnt do any thing.

I got the code read again and it still said that the cam shaft position sensor is out a circuit low input ( abnk 1 or single sensor).

If you changed the sensor then it must be the wiring...check it to see if it's broken at the connection or further back.

Do you know where the wiring runs to. having trouble tracing. connection at harness looks ok. but according to book it should be getting ~12v at connection 3, but reading 0.2-0.4

It runs to a quick release connector at the left front of the engine. You'll have to probably remove some turbo hoses and hose brackets to get to it. Beyond that I'm not sure where it goes. The wiring diagram for the 850 (free download in the pinned section of this section of the forum) may be worth a look as it has the schematics for the 850 and as far as I can tell, the design has not changed for your car. Btw, the voltage high voltage at the sensor is described as quadratic wave voltage 5volts...whatever that means, although it fluctuates with engine speed (rpms).
