1998 V70 AWD EVAP P0455 code guru help
OK dealing with the EVAP fun here. I'm gonna give the whole story as short as I can. Did the diode trick awhile back to ECU because of air pump gone bad . That fixed whatever codes I was getting passed emissions yeah. About 2 months later start throwing a P0440 constantly. Changed some hoses out replaced purge valve with a Dorman 911-800 which is what Rock auto selects for my car and now I'm getting a P0455 code constantly. Which when I read about "could" mean failed purge valve. Yes I did the gas cap! WTF. Any ideas because I'm getting really frustrated with this EVAP s%$t or directions to the nearest cliff to drive this thing over would be appreciated. I checked solenoid that is on top of the fan shroud also and it does open at 12V. The canister is at the front left wheel well. I have not replaced J hose or L hose because not sure if they apply to my car. Those seem to be in the rear of the car when the canister is mounted in back. Is that correct? Not sure where to go from here with this new code. Also the canister vapor filter Volvo #9186744 , is that something that could cause this malaise. Have not changed that out. Thanks!

Top suspect is now the J hose. Wherever the canister is located, it has a J hose on it. Find out if it's falling apart yet. Some access the J hose by removing the corner light.

Ok will do , thanks . I did inspect hoses down below and they “seemed” ok . The rotted ones were on top and that is what I replaced . I’ll do a temp hose tomorrow and see if that works . Thanks .

So checked the canister again this morning. This is what my canister looks like. I see no j hose on it . There are 2 u type hoses which one leads to the purge valve and the other to a shut off valve which that info I'm getting from this schematic viewtopic.php?f=1&t=31065 . The purge valve I'm sure of the shut off valve I'm not. The other is the tank hose which in no way shaped Like a J. All hoses appear to be good and solid not crumbling apart like my top hoses. Here is another diagram https://www.volvopartswebstore.com/prod ... wlEALw_wcB.
Second pick might be confusing in that it shows what appears to be the top of a j hose but i think they are trying to show the hold down for the tank hose and the tank hose with to different images. But I'm confident there is no J hose here.
