2000 S80 T6-Starter or starter inhibitor

Everything on the Volvo S80. Sometimes called an "executive car", the S80 was Volvo's top-of-the-line passenger car. P2 platform.

2000 S80 T6-Starter or starter inhibitor

Not always-but when trying to start my car nothing happens. No clicking no sound like the motor is trying to turn over. Battery is okay. Does the immobilizer need to be replaced or would the key need to be coded? I live near Little Rock (Little Rock Air Force Base) and the dealership service department leaves little to be desired. I have taken my other Volvo's to a Volvo only repair shop and she does a great job. Just want to know what someone else may think. Oh-today a message appeared about the immobilizer consult manual. (Don't all messages). Also I still haven't take my car for the recall. Could this cause the problem? Some days-no problems at all. Thanks!

Immobilizer problems can be a pain!

Make sure you only have 1 Key on your key ring that has an immobilizer type key on it.

Have the codes checked, I'm sure there are some. These earlier S80's had problems with the antenna ring around the ignition switch.

Good Luck

It doesn't sound like your starter ... ignition sounds more likely...
I have a question for you guys...

When my friend couldn't get her car out of gear, then I solved that but since the car has been sitting because it doesn't start, I work for caa and tried to jump it but still just got a clicking noise, does anyone think it's just the starter? I'm trying to help a friend out whom is losing a son to cancer and in in dire need or her car... really like to help her out considering she has spent all of her savings just to take care of her son...

Can anyone help me out with some advice and perhaps a diagram of where this is, do I have to have it on a hoist or can I do it in her driveway...

Just trying to take some of the crap off her plate and get her in motion...
