Re: Vacuum lines to air box

Post by abscate »

That is someone who didn't ask any questions making a big mistake

:-)

The two connections on the air box are the temperature sensing part of this system - depending on the temperature in the air filter box, the vacuum (or suction) is allowed to flow from one hose to the other, go down to the air temperature control valve, and then open/shut it as needed. Since the two-nipple thing is basically just a vacuum switch, it doesn't matter which hose goes where as long as both are on a nipple.

One of the hoses has to end up on the intake manifold - which is the source of vacuum for the system, the other one goes to the flap at the lower part of the air filter box, then attaches to a nipple at air temperature control valve - that Neils upper picture above

Hi all, I had the problem of breaking the connection between the black hose and the top half of the airbox. I fixed it using some green tubing (petrol hose for a dirt bike) with an inner diameter of 5 mm. See the pic.

It is really frustrating to read all these posts and still NOT find the answer.

Many on here posted long explanations on what these tiny hoses do but no one has answered the question: Where do they go ??

2 ends of the 2 hoses connect to the air filter box.

And one of the 2 hoses connect under the air box to a sensor but where does the LONG hose connects to ??

I've been looking & can't find where it connects to.

Thank you.

Wrong section for the 2002 Volvo. You should be in the P2 section. This is for the P80 cars from 1992-2000.
