Key won't come out of ignition lock

Post by SteveT »

Hi all,

The key won't go to the 0 position in my '98 S70, it goes to I, II and III (it starts and runs OK) but it stops about 1/8" before 0 and will go no further. Has anybody ever experienced this problem and, if so, what is the solution? Thanks. Steve

Turn the steering wheel left and right. The steering lock sometimes interferes with the ignition.

Thanks, it acutally turned out that someone had depressed the shift lock release switch when I was driving and when it's depressed apparently some kind of solenoid is activated that doesn't allow the key to be removed. When I pulled the switch back out with a pair of pliers the key came out.
