1999 C70 Hood Release cable snapped under hood

My hood release cable on my 99 c70 snapped somewhere under the hood and i can not get my hood open. no nothing happens if i pull on the release from the cabin. i removed the handle inside the cabin so i could pull and im a strong guy and nothing happens when i pull as hard as a can. I took the side marker lights off to see if i could pry the release latches open and i can not figure out how they open but i can see the front of both of them. Its a turbo so i can not see where the cord is past the fire wall. I can not see the cables from the grill or underneath. Someone please help my get my hood open without having to take it to a dealer or break something else. You might be able to reach it with a long bar or coat hanger if you remove the plastic skid/water guard under the car. Get a real strong light and you should be able to see the cable on either side. It is better to push up on the black cable sheathing than pull. It does not take much travel to release the latch.

I'd go from the dash end - push out any contamination rather than pushing it further up the cable assembly...

Have you tried pushing down on the hood as somebody else pulls on the hood release?
Worked on my '98 C70. There after I adjusted the Hood lock alignment, problem solved.

Just a heads-up to all this is not an active thread, the problem occurred in 2014.
