Bailout means you pay the conquests of somebody else's failure so they don't have too. You know, like mommy and daddy did for you before you grew up. Some never grow up and are always looking for surrogate parents.

Around here a 2006 Volvo S40 in clean condition, 200,000 miles, private party transaction, is worth ~$1200. In other words they are asking the full price of a 2006 S40 in good condition.

I think the moral of the story on an S60 purchase is replace the Octopus Hose as job one after taking possession, or verify it has been changed?

Does a 2004-06 S60 come none Turbo?

I think that S40 may need some attention to the left tail light and there is also a possible risk of water getting into the cabin. I suggest that interested buyers be sure to have a mop in the car - in case of emergencies.

And what is an octopus hose?

Both my dealer up here and the dealer down South taking care of my daughter's car refer to this as "octopus hose". It's apparently the first hose to blow with age. Likely those plastic joints get brittle in my mind. The advisor didn't specify. That looks like a Ford influence to me as I have seen a similar design come off of a 2003 Ford. My S80 T6 being a pre Ford design does not have one. June

My 2006 S60 2.5T Vin59 does not use that crazy thing. Best I can tell its a similar layout as pre-ford turbo 5s (mix of steel and single rubber hoses, no rubber with joins or taps in the middle). I couldn't for the life of me figure what on earth y'all referring to as the 'octopus hose' until I saw the picture. Not all Ford era 2.5 turbo engines use this. I'm glad mine doesn't. That design looks scary prone to random failures even when reasonably new I would suspect.
