Hello all, Im new to volvo and to this forum.
question:
i have a 2006 XC90 with blown motor and a 2005 XC90 that i lost the key to, can i swap the ignition switch and ECU from 2006 XC90 to 2005 XC90 and make it work?

Yes, but it hard way. There are couple additional program procedures except key.
Much easier to program new key.

In this case need to synchronize your modules and key.
You can remove your CEM, ECM and sent to some service with your key.

In theory a key , ECU, and CEM should work as a triplet if moved from car to car.
My guess is they won’t though.
