The fan is electric, right?

Post by priapism »

I just did the ETM cleaning--man what a difference. Removed + reinstalled fan. Fan isn't coming on now. But, it's in the low 50s and it took quite a while just to warm up. Is it supposed to run all the time (e.g. is it broken) or does it switch on when needed?

Of course it's electric, that was a dumb question.

We turned the AC on but it was chilly out and it wouldn't blow cold. Never did see the fan turn on. Only one connector on it ya? Put a 180F thermostat in it last week. Drove it to dinner and it never got above 1/2 on the temp gauge, actually went below that a few times.

Is there only the one connector for the fan to plug in?

the fan module has the two large wire power and ground connector and a small gauge single signal wire. I think the signal wire is violet colored.

Found it...the connector was way down in the bottom of the engine bay, couldn't see it when the fan was installed.

Man, this car has an appetite for torx wrenches. It's eaten two on this job alone!

My 2004 S60 2.5T has the same fan issue. AC won't turn on the radiator fan. Was your solution a connection in the bottom of the engine bay? Thanks!

There was a connector in the bottom somewhere that I missed. It was a long time ago and we don't have the car anymore so I can't remember.
