Very nice. I've got a '99 S70 T5 Manual. 145k and runs like a top.

Very happy to hear the comments about the clutch durability!

This forum is the place to be. ;)

It sure would be nice to own one of those T5M's, but they do carry a much heftier price tag I think.
Hang on to yours, it will most likely go up in value.

Agreed on the forum, a wealth of great info and nice, helpful people here.

The 850/v70 ac schedule

Sat morning 850 arrives in Albany
Dash and evap out
Train back to west Chester afternoon, local pick up.

Next sat, V70 up, same deal, dashboard back in 850, recharge, device 850 home

Next sat , 850 up with companion, finish V70, drive home

Volvo dollars not spent at dealer ..I’m guessing $5000?

Nissens Behr evaporator
Orfice tube
Two sets of scantech Orings
Receiver drier from REIn
Heater core Orings if they are older than 5 years
All new Volvo bolts for hardlines to frame, compressor, condenser
Take a good look at those lines and replace any that look ugly....especially the flex lines.

Spray the 6mm hex release bolt behind the right headlight with PB blaster, starting now. It’s really good if you put a long woodpecker snout on it and hit from inside the right frame member, underneath.

Yeah, AC work went viral last summer. I did SWMBOS E83 then a rumor hit town that there was a guy who would’ve do them for less that then $5000 the local BMW dealer was getting hit the streets

I was down to 4 hours for that job for the third one. I think I paid my entire 6 car parts bill off that year.

Very nice, love the 5 speeds! Can I be rude and ask what you paid for it?

Not rude at all, no worries. But I am a little embarrassed to say I paid $650 for it.

I brought the car home Sunday evening and got to know the car a little better.
All the dash bulbs are working save for 2 switches, and another one in the stereo. I was exited about that.
Not so exiting is the vibration that's going through the car above 50 mph. I am guessing brakes, which are very rusty, or perhaps CV axles? We'll find out I guess.
This suspension setup is nothing I would have picked out myself with the orange Konis. But the car handles great and is not harsh at all. I had some fun with this on the way through the beautiful Bear Mountain area in NY, a lot of twisty roads :D
Next is washing it and bringing it in the garage for interior cleaning and further assessment.

DOnt sweat the TP and water pump Dirk. Pull off the cover and carefully turn it over and inspect the whole belt and look for seeping on the pump.

The MTBF on these things is 150k plus.

I’m still running original water pump on the T5 at 230k, it’s on second timing belt and hardware.

Hey Steve, stop by anytime...just don't drive off with the wrong car!

I hear you on the TB, but I am not a friend of playing Russian roulette. Yes, you can determine the condition of the belt by visual inspection, but that's not really possible with the tensioner and water pump.
So I am going ahead with changing everything. In fact, I am getting ready to order the parts.

I was a little confused, but I think I learned that a 99' NA does not have VVT. Am I right?

I still need to pull the TB cover to look what I got, but I've been busy cleaning the car. This thing is seriously filthy :o

Yeah, when you open up the top cover you will see no solenoids and two solid cam gears. It gets timed the simple -1998 way. It might use the 1999 timing marks though - check that setup before you take off that belt!!

Ive got the same engine up here in my S70, if course.

No VVT and you have DENSO Idle Air control valve coming off your air cleaner box - the money they saved on that stuff went into the interior comfort options, specifically for the third seat.

I get you on the belt - by the time you remove it to check the tensioner and idler - there is no sense putting the old parts back on.
