Air pump or not?

Can I put an engine that originally came with an air pump into my car that does not have an air pump? What's the difference?

I would think so...more than the engine, I believe it's the ECU (computer) that will have a fit if things are too different.

Hi
I have a 850 20 v with manual transmision, american market, this car brings brings air pump.
The problem that I have is that: the valve of entrance of fresh air and the air pump are broken, and the cost of the parts are very expensive in my country.
Can I modify the ecu to convert it from the American market to the European market?
