- Just did blower motor lubrication (see link above).

- For 2004 V70: there are 5 screws (not 4). In contrast to 2005 XC90, the V70 5 screws are all accessible, just use T25 socket with swivel adapter and long extension.

- I was lazy and did not want to remove the ground cable in the trunk (to much work to remove plastic cover over battery (I know).
removed Fuse 32 (driver side fuse box) to turn courtesy lights off to avoid battery drain.

After it is all done, I got a dash SRS light, no worry, VIDA reset the light. But I think I re-inserted the Fuse 32 with the key in position II, thus the light. I think if you insert the Fuse 32 with key out of ignition, then you are OK, just a guess.

Broken images because they're gone from the image host (Google user content account). Kaput forever.

This is why everyone should use the forum upload mechanism. Most everyone does these days.

On Tuesday, the fan worked fine; on Thursday it was dead as housefly in January. With the key in ACC position can hear the plenum doors moving, the fan lights indicate the "selected" speed but there is not a whisper of air.

Have checked fuse position #3 (I think that is the indicated fuse by the interior fusebox diagram) and no blown fuse(s).

Will next check the ambient temp sensor for massive dust bunnies. Assuming that is NOT the issue, how can the problem of the resistor block be removed as a possible cause of fan failure (my copy if VIDA is under repair and not an option presently)?

Thankfully I have a flexible shaft bit driver. I'm just not looking forward to dropping the glove box. Does the right side cable detach in a similar method as the strut?

Lastly, is it possible on a 2006 V70 to remove the outer plastic firewall cover to get a view of the fan housing & the hamster wheel to rule out an object jamming the motor (can't imagine the speed control would last long with a jammed motor)?

Thanks to all who participate!

p/n 31320393
That's the p/n I located fro the fan/blower. I did find (2) different p/n for the "resistor" regulator component:
8693262 [Supersession(s) - 9171541] and
351321231 (can't find a supersession # for this item).
Is the thermal overload component an integral component of replacement regulators?
Thanx.
