Crush washer?

Heh everyone.
Just purchased a new Mann oil filter online and it comes with the rubber o-ring but no crush washer.
After crawling under the car yesterday and shining a shop light on the plug, it seems it might be an aluminum crush washer.
Is this correct? Not sure what size to ask for.

They are aluminum and the size is 18x24x1.5mm.

In a pinch a spark plug seal unscrewed from spark plug will work. If your threads are boogered up and you need a longer drain plug you can use a spark plug too. Spark plug screwed in as drain plug is best if you have an audience.

Keep the orientation the same. The side faces the bolt has a slight indentation.

My crush washer has been re-used at least 20 times, zero leak. Tighten it, then add a bit, do not over-tighten it.

Do you recommend Cu, Pt, or Ir for a spark drain plug?

If I use Ir, will the oil last 100k miles?

Should I use Volvo or Bougicord for the spark plug drain wire?

Do I have to gap them? Should the gap tool be oiled?

I just can't help myself from this one....

If you use synthetic oil you MUST use at least double platinum. For Amsoil users iridium is a must.

(I am serious, most oxygen sensors are 18mm threads and the spark plugs in white engines are that size too. The new DI engines use 14mm threads to reduce real estate for room for the injector but they still use 18mm drain plug)

Oh and another thing. I bought a metric dimension aluminum seal washer assortment from Amazon for around $10. It is loaded with usable seals for drain plug, trans drain plug, diff and angle gear, and washers for drain plugs on other things besides Volvo. Most of the sizes have 20 each.

On a serious note, I found a bunch of old copper crush washers from my Saab days. Wouldn't they make a better seal than aluminum?

If they're the correct size you can copper or aluminum washers on the oil and AT sumps.

The differential gears and Haldex take the same size washer but requiring less torque on those fill plugs I used copper washers on them.
