Transmission code PO 755 1997 Volvo 850

Post by volvo850ct1997 »

I need some advice on replacing a second shift solenoid. I pulled code PO 755 second shift malfunction. I was told by mechanics to put a new trans in. I replaced the PNP switch first and cleared code and same problem. The car goes in limp mode(starts off in third gear) with dash shift light flashing. Has anybody had this problem? I am a mechanic and may try to replace that solenoid and see what happens. The part cost about $90 from Volvo. The car has 120,000 on it. trans was flushed at 105,000. I love this car but don't want to go broke fixing it.

Thanks,

Gregg

There is an article I posted in the How To section re: replacement of shift solenoids. Not a real difficult job, but kind of a PTA. PO 755 is short, open or high resistance in the solenoid coil. If you need further information, email.

:D I replaced transmission solenoid #1 and #2 and tested them and # 2 was bad. The ohms were 69 and it should have been around 10 to 15.
I did the job myself and the worst part was removing and replacing the oil pan. The Volvo dealers wanted to put in a new $4000 transmission. It cost me $ 180 for the whole job. I sure am glad I am a mechanical person. This car is a very expensive car to have a dealer to work on. I would not own this car if it was not for internet forums. I do all my own work. You can find out alot of things online. My advice to you people is to research everything you can online and you can save alot of money!!! I have been driving it for two weeks now and no problems.
