Re: DEM-0001 AWD Not Working
After filling it to the dripping point you have to suck out 100 ml or so, otherwise it will leak through the seal. Do you have a typical "oil ring" on the chassis around the flange? This is the oil thrown up through the seal.

Re: DEM-0001 AWD Not Working
With "Oil ring" are you referring to the seal between the damper and Haldex? I replaced that seal when I threw on a new damper. I've read there is a weep hole on the bottom where the Haldex and Final drive gasket mate.
Filling it with 70ml more might of been a coincidence when I hooked up the pump wiring to the DEM at the same time. I probably did overfill it.

Re: DEM-0001 AWD Not Working
When I hooked up VIDA yesterday I got the DEM-0007 code. I cleared the code then drove her for a mile. The AWD worked and the code never returned. Wouldn't this code clear itself after I fixed the issue when firmly inserting the pump harness into the DEM?

No, I meant the oil will leak through the seal and will be thrown by the rotating damper, You'll notice oil is everywhere on chassis around the damper. The "oil ring"

Re: DEM-0001 AWD Not Working
It might. When the code becomes inactive, VIDA shows it as yellow, not red.

Re: DEM-0001 AWD Not Working
Same type of ring I got when I flooded the damper with grease before inserting the driveshaft with new CV joints. That grease got ringed around the chassis, exhaust, pump, and some on the DEM.
I'll check if there's Haldex oil ring when I raise her up in a few hours.

Re: DEM-0001 AWD Not Working
As I recall last week I first inserted the oil pump connector firmly onto the DEM. It was clearly not seated all the way. The rear wheels still wouldn't spin and the DEM-0007 came back instantly. I then filled the Haldex with something between 70 to 90ml of oil, cleared the code, and the AWD worked for the first time since installing that new sensor. Two days later the DEM-0007 came back on it's own. I didn't touch the Haldex. Just cleared the code and it re-appeared after every try. When I cleared the code yesterday the AWD worked and the code didn't re-appear.
I'm taking her for a 30 mile city drive now. I'll see if the code comes back. I feel it's a bad connection. It's either the oil pump harness or an internal DEM connection that broke the same time as when I broke the sensor.

You may need to split the DEM and solder the socket - it is mechanically attached as of now, and is not very tight.

Re: DEM-0001 AWD Not Working
I knew I could of damaged the sensor terminals on that socket when I broke the sensor. I cleaned both terminals with CRC Electronic Cleaner and added in a small tab of dielectric grease on them.
If it turns out to be the socket then I may swap the socket from the DEM I got at the JY off a 2005 S80 AWD. It is a different DEM so I cannot swap the entire unit.

Re: DEM-0001 AWD Not Working
Right after starting the engine I used VIDA and checked for faults. The DEM-0007 DTC re-appeared before even driving? I cleared the code yesterday and it never came back before shutting it off last evening. The DEM must test the pump by feeding it a few amps during startup. That's the only way this code could come up before driving it. I cleared the code then city drove for 32 miles and the AWD worked fine. I shut the engine down twice for 30min intervals but the code didn't come back. It must only happen after engine and/ or haldex fluid is cooled down.
I'll wait until tomorrow morning to start her up and validate if the code comes back again. I'll then raise her up and check Haldex oil level, Haldex oil ring around chassis, and the oil pump connection to DEM. If all appears well then I'll need to open up the DEM to check for the connections.
