Car running fine. Stopped at the store and when I came out no crank no start, had it towed home. Thought I had the classic starter failure so remover and replaced with new Bosch premium still no crank. So next went after starter switch replaced with new Volvo switch still nothing. so figuring the last thing in the circuit was the pnp (since the arrow was flashing) I replaced it still
with Volvo unit no crank, I have tried before and after reading the codes at Pin 6 with the flying prob. but get no led light or readings Next I tried my Autel max which is supposed to be able to read DB1 codes still nothing So I need a little help what next to look at ??? thanks
Repair beyond my skill set no crank/no start

Work your way backwards. Have the ignition switch turned to II as if you were starting the car. Get a wire with alligator clips on both ends. Follow the hot cable to the starter from the battery and clip one end of the alligator clip there on the starter. With the other now LIVE end, carefully not to ground it, touch the starter motor solenoid wire (green I think) and see if the solenoid kicks in and turns the engine. If it does and starts I know someone here can help you with what to do next. Have not ever worked on the ignition switch so never have familiarized myself with the ignition system.
Someone removed the underneath of the dash on the driver's side to play with the alarm on my 98 S70 and pinched a wire. Can't remember now how that wire affected the starting but the car had an intermittent no start, no crank condition when warmed. Kept the alligator clipped wire under the hood to jump start the vehicle. Accidentally came upon the pinched wire when working on something else about a year after acquiring the car.

There is a "service starter connector" next to the left (drivers) side shock tower under the hood. It is a green wire with a red stripe and it just sticks out of the wiring harness. Run a wire from the + Battery terminal to the connector and it will bypass the starter switch and the immobilzer. It does leave the PNP in the circuit though. If it cranks from the connector work your way back to the starter switch. If it still doesn't crank it is the PNP or the starter itself were the problem lies.

Is this a Volvo thing and in all the other cars? Do any other manufacturer have this connector? Someone recently in another post had a question about a blank connector under the hood? I wonder if that's the connector.

Many cars have this but this layout is Volvo specific.

On my '97, we got a no crank/no start when the positive cable between the battery and the starter developed a high resistance connection in the crimp connection inside the terminal on the battery end. You can test if yours is OK by measuring the voltage drop between the positive battery terminal and the starter when you try to crank the engine. In our case, replacing the positive cable fixed the problem.
1997 855 GLT (Light Pressure Turbo) still going strong. Previous: 1986 240 GL rusted out in '06, 1985 Saab 900T rusted out in '95, 1975 Saab 99 rusted out in '95, 1973 Saab 99 rusted out in '94

checked the main wire from battery to started measure 2 ohms resistance and then measure voltage 12.8
Lee I can not find a green /red wire by shock tower can not find any wire sticking out does a 94 have that wire

2 ohms seems high, but let’s make sure you are making a valid measurement...
Get a helper. Put voltmeter between large starter terminal and starter chassis and have helped turn key to crank? What is Voltage while trying to crank? Next, put voltmeter between small starter terminal and starter chassis and have helper turn key to crank. What is voltage while trying to crank?
