One last thought perhaps the water pump is sticking further out, due to different casting tolerances, than the OEM pumps?

Very similar to my experience: https://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/forum ... hp?t=73552
I ran the Gates belt for about 5k miles because we put the car in service somewhere else for a several months, then when we got it back here I put in a Continental belt. It tracks straight with the Conti belt. The Conti belt is about 17 bucks (?) for the record.

that's the picture from the engine side.MoVolvos wrote: ↑08 Sep 2019, 21:01 -
In your photo (link below) the old belt was riding further in on the cam sprocket.

In your video the belt is riding on the edge of the sprocket.

hmmm, just got the answer from Gates representative: "Generally speaking, the cord fuzzing a little bit is nothing to worry about" & "Slight axial movement is acceptable which is based on how the belt is cut at the plant. I’m more concerned with the belt hanging over the edge of the pulleys."erikv11 wrote: ↑08 Sep 2019, 21:50 Very similar to my experience: https://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/forum ... hp?t=73552

I should have done the job myself. I was busy and wanted to save some time...
