A 3 second blast of ether willl probably make it go vroom and can help confirm a fuel delivery problem
Good advice, will do

Wait, compression ratio on the turbo engines is 8.5:1, which puts in the 125 neighborhood right?

Ok, fuel pressure = 46 psi with no leaks on the gauge

Volvo actually puts the bottom of the range for this engine at about 155 and that's consistent with what people report, e.g. https://blog.fcpeuro.com/how-to-do-a-co ... linder-vol or https://volvoforums.com/forum/volvo-850 ... rbo-33048/ etc.

Please kids, buy quality tools, esp diagnostic tools. And listen to the experts here

After getting my hands on a good compression tester, my compression readings are:
1: 170
2: 170
3: 172
4; 172
5: 172
8) Measured cold and dry

Nice numbers! Well if you've tried swapping the crank and coil I've got nothing else. Immobilizer would be no spark.

Lets await the pending ether test, with bated breath (not baited breath - that's from fishing)

That will tell is if we are on the spark tree or the (fuel/spark) tree of Diagnostics

Starting fluid test was easier than crank pos swap from the parts car, so that was first.

So staring fluid DID yield a ‘vroom’ for 2-3 seconds!

So this probably means that ive got a fuel problem? Right?

Pressure tested a couple days ago = 46 psi at the rail valve

I had the injectors sent off to be rebuilt when i first got the car a few weeks ago, maybe something went wrong there? But all 5 are bad? ...unlikely. Perhaps my injectors arent getting electricity/signal to fire?

What next?

You’ve got decent spark, yes.

Check for 12 volts at the injectors , you need a wiring diagram to get the right terminal

The injectors get a common 12 volts from the battery, and are fired by grounding through the ECU

If the 12 volts at the injectors is good and thefuel pressure is good, you have to inspect the wiring from injectors to ECU. They batch fire, all at once, I believe, in your software
