Mobil 1 Synthetic ATF , Mobil ATF 3309 or JWS3309 ?

Post by adrian22 »

looking to start using synthetic oil for my 2006 S60 transmission changes
my option until now was AISIN ATF-0T4 Type T-IV about 3.5 qrt every time I change oil, but wondering if
Mobil 1 Synthetic ATF is
better?
it is marketed as a multi-vehicle formula recommended for use in modern high performance automobiles, SUV's, SUT's, vans and other light trucks more details on - https://www.carid.com/mobil-1/mobil-1-s ... ion-fluid-

I have always used Mobile 1 in the my 850 and S70. Swapping out 10 or 11 qts thru the cooling line process.

Havoline (Chevron) in a 2003 S80 T6 (130K+) and 2003 Odyssey (225K+). Full exchange of fluid through radiator cooler hose about 4 to 5 months ago. Runs smoother, quieter and more positive shifts.

Another option is Toyota's Type IV ATF (JWS3309) from dealership. I have found it to be a very economical option for exact OEM replacement (half the price of Volvo ATF). My transmission couldn't be happier :)

I was just at the Toyota Dealership and there was absolutely nothing on the bottle of Toyota T-IV that showed what specification it was made to. Nothing on the box either identifies it as being JWS3309 Spec. I want to make sure this is the correct ATF FLUID.

Can you guys post a photo of the bottle front and back of the Toyota T-IV?

Been using Mobil 3309 for many years and many miles without any trans issues. Summit Racing has it for under $5/qt when buying in quantity.

Hello adrian22, I couldn't find one of the many posts on this subject because I think linking to them is efficient.

We've had 5 of these (AW55-50) transmissions in the family and have had no problem using the following fluids.
Mobil 3309 -found a 12 qt. case in a Virginia auto parts store.
Wolf's Head Super Universal Synthetic Transmission Fluid -bought 3 cases of this through Amaliestore.com in Florida.
Toyota Type IV -bought 3 of these at a dealership.
Valvoline MaxLife Synthetic Dex/Merc LV gallon jugs -I've bought over 13 gallons of the stuff during sales at AutoZone.
NOTE: The "LV" is vitally important. It must be the LV.

I've never had a hiccough using any of these in our transmissions.
Some of the Wolf's Head and MaxLife products were used in other applications too.

Once the fluid is clean I add LubeGard (red bottle) at the prescribed dosage of 1 oz. per system quart.
