I hate to say it, but I had the a same codes and the same behavior. It ended up needing a new transmission. The pathway I went through was to first replace the PNP switch. This did nothing. The I did another flush (the car had been flushed 10k before). This time the flush had a metallic pearling to it so I brought it to the tranny shop. They took it apart and it was boned. I hope that one of these other things is your fate, but time to start preparing mentall for the worst. That being said, if you do have it replaced, consider getting a transmission cooler installed as this should make a big difference in the next trannys longevity.

Thanks for all the info everyone! My dad just flushed the transmission fluid and while it was dirty there was no metallic pearling. He also mentioned that the the fluid had been overfilled previously. While the car does seem to shift a bit smoother it still goes into limp mode. My dad and a mechanic will be changing both selenoids soon though so I'll keep you all updated on how that goes. Hopefully it does the job!

Any update on fixing your problem? I have the exact same problems right now. Codes p1618 and p0756. Shifts fine with abs module unplugged but I don't have overdrive(4th gear). The faster I go past 80km/h the higher the rpm gets and does not shift.
Sorry about the not getting this update out sooner, but here it is. My dad and his mechanic friend were able to replace the two shift selenoids (S1 and S2), but that didn't seem to help any. My dad then did another transmission flush using Toyota Type 4 Transmission fluid, which seemed to help the car shift much better. It would still go into limp mode though if the ABS module were plugged in. A new PNP switch was also put in as well as a radiator, although the later shouldn't really have anything to do with the main problem. A transmission cooler was also recently put in as well. That sums up all the work that's been done on it since my last post.
It drives fine around town with the ABS module disconnected and doesn't go into limp mode (I've been using a GPS as a speedometer.) Most of the time when the car is going about 55 MPH the RPMs stay at 1900, but after about 15 minutes of driving the RPMs will increase to 2500 if driving at 55 MPH. It seems to my dad and I that the problem is most likely that the torque converter is not locking up when in 4th gear. If in drive at 55 MPH and you shift manually into 3rd gear the car does downshift, so the car does seem to be getting into 4th gear. Hopefully all this information will make it clear to someone out there what the problem may be. Thank you guys for taking the time to help me out!
