As I drove my new S40 away from the dealership in Yokosuka I started to hear an annoying swish shish squeal from the front left brake. I stopped and called the dealer and he said that it's common with new volvo's and to give it until Tuesday to stop. If it doesn't I can take it to the dealership for repair.
Any idea what this could be? The cars come with a protective anti-corrosion coating on the discs, but I looked and it's been removed.

So you're in Yokosuka, huh? I was going to Tokyo and Yokohama 4 or 5 times a year with my work until this past year...have many "Volvo Friends" in Tokyo that I could introduce you to if you want (all Japanese). Anyway, I would go with what the dealer said. Of course, since it's new, the car is under warranty and from what I've noticed, Japanese dealers are MUCH better than their American Volvo dealer counterparts.
