P0340 and P0343 camshaft sensor and circuit relay codes
P0340 and P0343 camshaft sensor and circuit relay codes
I have a 2001 Volvo XC 70 with 175,000 miles on it. Just got it back from a transmission shop. Transmission was totally rebuilt. Runs smooth for that, however now that we got this car back sometimes it starts and sometimes it doesn't. If we clear the codes P0340 and P0343 it will start. Sometimes rough. Car will not start when has been ran and been turned off. This is why we have then to clear the codes. Need help, we just cleaned the camshaft solenoid and have heard this will not help, but tried anyway. Next we changed spark plugs while we were in that area and now we are having problems locating the camshaft position sensor. I have seen where this is for earlier 90's Volvo, however 01 is different. I do not know where this is located and we have not been able to find a diagram. Can anyone help me?
Awesome, thank you. If you have a picture that would be great too. We recently had the transmission rebuilt and fear that when they placed all back in that they disconnected the sensor. It could be a bad sensor too. Thank you.

I have an ‘05 XC70 and I am consistently getting a P0343 code. I have cleared it several times. I replaced the easy cam position sensor. Is there another? Is there a post on troubleshooting/replacing these?

I am looking for confirmation that there is only 1 Cam Position Sensor on an ‘05 XC70?
I have replaced this and am still getting the P0343 code.
If so, am I correct in thinking that I may need to look for exposed wire?

There are two, and the PO343 is exhaust cam, which is the one at the end of exhaust cam, well hidden by engine brackets which have to be removed first. Reach back in area and check plug for connection issues. A big PIA compared to intake cam sensor.
