I just put off pulling the blower motor to replace the resistor (blower runs constantly, just pull the fuse).

Totally put off getting under the front end and figuring out what that clunk noise is when I take a hard slow RH turn.
I think it is the lower control arm bushings, and I think that it is contributing to the TCS light I get when I take that RH turn.

Today I put off putting gas in my tank. For no other reason than to see how correct the computer is a indicated 0 miles range left. Filling up today after work.

Put off doing inner and outer tie rods today, it's windier than hell in the lower Hudson Valley and can't run my compressor because we have not had power since 1:00 a.m.

Very windy in Montreal as well, almost seen snowflakes. Was driving inside the city and all of a sudden one of these large recycling bins on wheels run across the street like nobody's business - too bad I didn't had a camera

Those are actually aliens. Once a week they muster the platoon, stand to attention on the street, and then send in scouting reports to HQ, hidden in trash. You can observe a lot by watching.

If they're really stuck, you can drill out the rubber bushing in several places around the ring, then it has little resistance left.

Is there not an outer bushing ring/sleeve inside the arm? If so, once the middle is shoved out, you can then use a loose hacksaw blade to cut through 90% of that sleeve and it's a fairly easy chisel job to pop it out. I've never tried the torch-the-bushing idea - doesn't seem like it's good for the arm (especially if alum!) or your lungs.

So do you just drive around until you yourself decide the car isn't worth keeping or are there still rules but you need to be stopped and checked by chance for anyone to find out if you're following them or not?
Neither of the above. Isn’t AMERICA a great place? If you visit here, some States you will be amazed at what you see on the road. In NY we have safety inspections each year but they are about 1/3 as comprehensive as Europe

I got a BMW back from a dealer inspection with 1 mm of rear brake pad left because inspection only requires pulling one front wheel
Freedom and safety can be mutually exclusive. I prefer the former. With it I can see to the latter myself better than the state can.
