Hello all...
Lately my '89 240 has been making a grinding noise when I slow down to come to a stop, and then it starts grinding again once I get moving again. After I pick up speed though, it stops. I just got new brakes, and it doesn't do it when I hit the brakes, ruling that out...it seems to shift fine too. I'm still having overdrive issues (see other topic heh heh), so I'm hoping it's not related to that since I've had to drive on the express way everyday doing 65-70 mph. Does anyone know what might be the problem??
**Also...is power steering usually an expensive thing to have to get worked on? When I steer at a slow speed, the power steering makes a lot of noise. I put fluid in, and by the next day the problem arose again.
I love my Volvo...but for everything good I hear about them...I seem to be having a lot of problems. I also have an oil leak.
Thanks in advance...
Matt
Strange Grinding...'89 240.
have someone outside the car listen to where the sound appears to be coming from as you slow down and speed up. not sure what would cause a grinding noise like that only at low speeds... does it go away after you car shifts out of first gear? if so, then it's probably that your transmission is just aging poorly... if not... well, i don't know...
