My latest project: a 245 that I just purchased has a slipping tranny. Upon arrival it would not engage in any gear. I replaced the strainer(which was gunky) and flushed the tranny. She ran fine for about 25 miles and then it started slipping. I pulled over checked the fluid level...seems correct. I started back up and she ran for less than a mile before slipping again. I managed to get to my destination by pulling over and shutting her down. I start up and she moves for less than a mile. Any suggestions? The previous owner says it would do same to him. Hed clean the strainer it would run some and the start slippng.
Please help
Thanks,
Vic

In my experience this indicates a gone transmission. Best look for a good used one and install. They are not that expensive and relatiively easy to install. You could get it overhauled too, but costs more. When you replace or fix, be sure to have the rear main seal replaced.

I appreciate the inputs/suggestions. I wont give up that easy.
Today i removed the oil pan again and found more debris clggging the filter. This debris appears to be gasket material from the oil filter itself.
Lets see how long it will keep running for now. Tommorow it hits the road again.
