1995 Volvo 850 glt vacuum lines, with VVIS

Hi.
Im new to this forum and need some help.
I have read through all the post and threads about vacuum lines and routings. However, my vehicle is not one of the ones listed.
I have positive crank case pressure after doing the pcv system myself.
It’s out of order and I’m not sure where to start.
I don’t know what the vacuum tank looks like first off, and I’m not sure the pcv box is suppose to be hooked up to the flame trap like I have it.
I will post pictures, including what the diagram looks like on the hood of my car.
Hopefully it’s the hood that came with the car!

Your 95 GLT is the same as this 96 GLT viewtopic.php?t=65002 except you also probably have EGR.

Follow the routing in the link and then we can help you sort out the EGR lines if you have it. Or answer any questions about the link, for that matter!

No! Sorry! This is the thread I have already opened and read through carefully. I have a different vacuum hose diagram on my car that includes a “vacuum tank” just above the the shape in the bottom left hand corner, and below the the lines “ “solenoid valve“ and “check valve”

If you're on your phone you use the link "full editor and Preview" then you use the panel labled "attachments" and load the files into that.

We need more details about the car. What's the year? Turbo or No? Transmission?

If it has a vacuum tank it's probably a 93-95 manual or 93-94 automatic non-turbo with the VVIS system. Luckily I'm an expert in the system.

There is a funky little plastic box in the driver side wheel wheel area. It is round and has one tube coming in and out of it. That is the vacuum reservoir. The box next to it is the evaporative canister (charcoal canister)

I've attached a photo to this reply of the vacuum system. If you need I can take pics of my car highlighting how everything is run.

If you do have the VVIS system I have good news and bad news. Good news is that IMO they're the best non turbo car to drive. Bad news is that much of the forum info will be incorrect when it comes to vacuum lines, computer stuff, gauge clusters etc. Your intake manifold is different than all the other NA models from 95 on up. It uses a unique gaaket, and is much larger and heavier than others which makes working on the PCV a PITA and you'll have to come up with a novel approach to rerouting the PCV lines of you increase the diameter of the hoses, otherwise they will pinch. I have a link in my signature to my current build thread which details my entire rebuild of my current car Herman.

Okay here comes the photo of the diagram, more to come.
Im liking the good news! I really like this car, and although i don't know too much about it, I've been gotten in deep on the pcv system.
I replaced every line myself including the breather box, and failed to pay attention to the routing as it was before i started. I am starting to see where thing are wrong; i have a whole side of my tree plugged up and that's not right.
This is a non turbo 1995 850 glt. Ive done extensive searches into confirming this, as different oil shops and dealerships have told my misleading information about my car. Its a stock, manual transmission, of which group I'm not sure.
Ive been underneath the car and begun to understand the charcoal canister and the vacuum reservoir/ the picture in the bottom left corner, now i just need to find the vacuum tank!

Yes. You for sure have a Volvo Variable Intake System! (VVIS).

So some things that you'll need to remember is that you have a different intake manifold and that it requires the larger intake manifold gasket. Your ECU is Bosch LH 3.2, and that means that your exhaust and intake sensors are different than other 850's. 95 was a transition year for Volvo where they phased out the variable intake system. Only manual transmission cars had it in the US in 95.

That explains why when I purchased a Volvo PCV kit, I was sent a gasket that in no way matched my intake.
I’m glad you had a picture of the routing, I’m going to take a look. The vacuum lines got put off for the opportunity to do sway links and control arms today, as well as gear box oil. Shifts much smoother now.
I just looked into Herman, looks to me like we have the same car. MPG’s all the way. I don’t calculate mine like I used to in my Tercel, but I’m running Lucas oil gas additive and later some marvel mystery oil. They claim to help, and videos on YouTube I’ve seen prove that they can. Ten dollars for about ten fuel ups worth of cleaner. It’s a hassle but I hope it’s going to be worth it.
I appreciate the lingo and the heads up about my car. This thing is nice and young at just about 150000 miles. I’m planning on keeping it going for a long time.
Ideas I’ve had,
Run full synthetic all the time, cheap easy way to add life to the engine.
Clean pcv and changed timing belt.
Replace gear oil for easier shifts.
Thermostat.
Tomorrow I’ll be deep in on the vacuum lines. I have to thank you for the help so far. I’ll see if I can’t figure it out.

I got a chance to take a look today and a couple questions came to mind.
The first thing i noticed is some sort of vacuum object underneath my battery plate. I'll include a picture of it. It seems to be missing a line entirely.
The second thing I noticed is an electrical component attached to my airbox on the side. This is the only place where vacuum lines could go in and out of the airbox.
Lastly i noticed a lack of a second line that comes out of my intake. Is that the part from the pcv box? not sure. but there is one for the fuel pressure regulator and another coming from the center in the diagram that leads to something im not sure of.

Lastly and probably most importantly before i start changing things. I noticed the diagram you sent me and the one on my hood are different. For example/ two of the left sides of my tree are suppose to be used in the diagram you sent me, but only one in the diagram on my hood.the t pipe is routed on opposite sides ect. How can i confirm what sort of diagram to trust? Do i have VVIS?
