Different MAF Sensors Topic is solved

Hi all,

I’m currently looking at replacing my MAF sensor on my 1994 Volvo 940, and it turns out it’s not an easy part to find. I really don’t want to buy that new OEM stuff made in China or any of the aftermarket ones. I’d prefer the original spec ones.

I have found one that looks to be the same but is a different part number, I was wondering will it work?

My part number: 0280212016 (Bosch)

The one I found: 0986280101 (Bosch)

They’re both for Volvo 940.

0280212016 supersedes 0986280101. Both numbers will work.

Ok thank you. It’s good to know I can go ahead and order. It’ll definitely put a dent in the wallet. Just out of curiosity, what did you mean by supersedes? As in it was a revision of the original?, or was it just the same thing but used in special models of the vehicle?

Yeah no, I knew that. I was just trying to figure out what the difference was, as in why Volvo chose to make a newer part for the exact same model of car.

May of found a better or lower cost way to do it that required a new SCD ( Source Control Drawing or Specification Control Drawing ) which would require a new part number.
