Awesome fellas. Thank you very much! I will be replacing the purge valve even though it doesn't appear to need it (blow test confirmed preliminary tests to be working properly).

This is the culprit, yes? The purge valve?

Also, is the other pic of the servo you are talking about, Eddystone? I can't figure out how to get these attachments to fit where they are supposed to. So, pics aren't in order, but I know that one of these is the purge solenoid and the other is not.

Top one is the turbo control valve. Three connections.

Check the statement above by part number. May well be the SAS valve - see below.

Bottom one is one version of the purge valve with two connections. There is another version which is squarer and looks a lot like the turbo valve but has only two connections.

Pull part numbers off both and post, please. That turbo valve might be aftermarket

Abscate, I believe that top valve is the SAS valve for the air pump, not the turbo control valve. It has that metal housing that looks like it slides into the fan cover shroud. Shadymilkman, where did you pull that top valve? If it was just above the radiator that is the SAS valve for the air pump, which you should have since it's a 98 model. I have a few working purge valves. Would be willing to mail you one.

The turbo solenoid usually lives clipped to the air cleaner, and the SAS solenoid the radiator, as Richard noted.

If its the SAS one hose will go back to a silver alien spaceship living above the exhaust manifold, towards the rear of the engine, right side of engine (in between engine and driver)

Alright boys, this is what I found.

This is located on the fan shroud, clipped to it via the metal bracket underneath, hidden inside.

This is where I found it:

This little guy was below it a little but still in the same general vicinity.

Abscate, I think the part numbers are visible via the photos (they are on my end.) If you have any trouble reading them let me know and I will post them in plain text.

Do all of these lil guys need to be replaced, Richard? I'd love it if you could mail me a purge valve. I would be happy to pay for it, and your shipping costs. Thank you very much for the offer!

Yes! That is it. Glad you found it. The tubing going to it looks fairly cracked. You may want to replace that tubing. I hypothesize that part of the reason for the failures is small black particulates getting inside the valve from old tubing.

Oh, one step ahead of you buddy. I bought a metric shitload of tubing, all types and sizes, to completely overhaul the engine bay. If it looks like a hose and qu(cra)cks like a hose, it's being visited by the taskmaster for sleeping on the job. Is that the valve you have spares of?
