For the record I don’t have facebook, but my wife does send me some interesting stuff off of there. No, I am not considering the above, but it certainly is provocative!

We’re down in AZ on a motorcycle trip & debating skipping the flight home in favor of driving 1,800+ miles back in a 200k ‘88 240. Its engine was allegedly replaced 100k ago, which strikes me as odd for a red block. $1,400 asking. I haven’t seen it in person yet. $1-1.2k seems more appropriate. We’ll see.
Sounds fun!

It's not too uncommon, things happen and people miss them... could have had a cam seal blow out and it was run out of oil. Either way, that could be a good car for $1,400, but I'd try to get him closer to $1k. I'd have to see it though.

This is pretty nice, someone should go pick it up!
The engine is stock. Can the manual make it a sleeper (that much quicker) as too embarrass Subaru's as he states? Those tires are huge so that would mean taller gears in every gear?
If you drop a T5M or R with a manual down into 2, 3 gear the HPT has ridiculous torque up in the high rpm band.

My cousin's certainly does with a Hilton stage 2 tune! Mine feels good, but not great... it's the weight of the AWD stuff. I'll be fixing all that soon though!

erikv11 wrote: 12 Mar 2020, 08:50 Looking seriously these days for the right P2 V70 in T5 or 2.5T. No AWD, 05-07 preferred. Thank you in advance for any heads-ups. :)

This 07 2.5T with 97k looked great until we noticed no heated seats: https://lincoln.craigslist.org/cto/d/se ... 90763.html
[img]download/file.php?id=52120[/img
After figuring that converting to heated seats isn't so bad, we made a long drive today expecting to buy this, but walked away. A couple things:
- The P2 V70 is definitely less of a car inside (smaller interior space in both seating rows, less comfortable seats) than the P80. This surprised me though wasn't a deal killer.
- The car was overall more worn than it looks in pics and than I expected for 97k. Several place with peeling clearcoat on trim plastics, big clear-coat free patch on the nose of the hood.
- Couple minor mechanical issues, one I couldn't diagnose (CV joint?). Hint of sludge on the oil cap, perhaps the previous owner in FLA was not so good about oil and oil changes as the current owner in NE. Will need PCV soon, for now the glow is mostly static does not suck in.
- The seller is totally stand-up, trustworthy and fair.

Wish it could have worked out but we are looking for something in much better than average condition, for a few years of road tripping. This one is a $4000 car just as it is priced, even though it looks like more from the pics and mileage. As a daily driver for utilitarian purposes I can still recommend it, if anyone is looking.

Sucks it didn't turn out as nice as it looks, but good to know it's still a solid car. Keep your eyes out, you'll find a nice one soon!

You are right it's fast. The clutch is weak on the C30 at this time so pulls are only in 3rd and 4th and it's fast. I forget there is a 6th all time.

That black T5M has been on my mind. So have taxes, and the impending collapse of society.

In other words, inaction. 😂
