Yup, that makes sense. And WOW, that's definitely got a bad head gasket! Cracked liners sound even more likely here. Time to source a new engine, I think.

Well, I'm thinking it's probably a cracked cylinder wall. Probably not both.
Either way, I'm interested to see what you find out. With those compression numbers, there was a major failure!

With them numbers and #3 being zero. My biggest fear is a head warped too far out of true to repair. There are no Rs or T5s around here to pick.

Wow, he sure did a number on it.

People will usually pay a fair bit for those calipers if you decide to bail on it ...

That is my insurance. If I rebuild and recondition the calipers I could turn a profit on the calipers alone.
I seen piston kits for the R calipers somewhere.

A part out could probably get you your money back easily, so there's that as a backup plan at least. Otherwise, I could probably get you an R head... the only problem would be shipping it.

I once shipped someone from the forums a head. The key was access to a table saw. Cut a box out of scraps of thin plywood and screwed the panels together. Also used the saw to cut large, well-fitting pieces of 2-inch blue foam board to line the inside of the box. Measure twice cut once. Can't remember how I shipped it probably UPS ground, it went to the east coast.

Good to know! It could probably be shipped in one of those big 27 gallon totes, I think it might actually fit into one of those. FedEx or UPS would be the best option.
I remember Robert having a video on shipping transmissions, and how he had shipped an M56 like that.

Wood Shop instructor taught us Elmer's glue is stronger then nails, screws or the unglued wood.
