Seatbelt/door chime wont shut up. What to check? 1997 850

Has any one thought of just replacing the switch that is on the door piller? It is a black compression switch.
My guess is that the switch is worn out and now is not breaking the contack like it would when the door is closed.
I have not replaced this part yet but it can not be that bad.

Changing gears here has anyone repaired the door holder (not sure what it is called) so the car door will stay open.
My driver door will close on a up lean and fly open on a dowared lean.

These don't have a normal button that is depressed when the door is shut like most cars. They had to make it more complicated than that.

The issue is that there is excessive wear on plastic parts, limiting movement of a lever that activates a microswitch. I'm not sure why Volvo made it so complicated! Here's a complete explanation accompanies with the picture below.

On the left you see a door assembly when the door is open, i.e. the latch is open. In the upper circle, you see the contact area for 2 plastic levers. The upper black one rotates with the door latch. The lower white one is the lever that activates the microswitch. When the door closes, the black lever pushes the white lever down, which presses the microswitch. Clear as mud?

When the door is closed (picture on the right), the black lever pushes the white lever down, which presses the microswitch. The issue arises in the are where the black and white levers contact. The plastic wears down and the lever action is minimized. In the picture below, the lever did NOT move down enough to activate the switch. This switch is how the car "knows" when the door is open or closed. If it thinks the door is open, the chime continues and the courtesy lights remain on.

Why the door chime remains on. It's the microswitch.

So is there a fix? If you can somehow restore the worn white plastic part where it contacts the black plastic part, it could work. Basically you need to restore the lever action to get more movement.

I am havig this problem on my 850 but it only does it when it is cold outside. Chime will ring when I open and then stop when I close the door, but then a few min later will start to chime again. Im thinking I need to pull the door apart and check or lube the switch. I hear this door switch is more complicated than most door push button types. Any advice?

There is a micro-switch on the door latch assembly that tells they system that the door is closed. Something in the actuator arm that depresses the switch is getting hung up in the cold. I would lubricate the lever that depresses the micro-switch but not the switch itself.

Might be able to get away with gluing in a small wooden shim.

Build it back up with JB PlasticWeld. When fully cured, level it off.

A quick and easy fix maybe to find a cap that fits on top of the micro switch, raising its height slightly.
