2000 Volvo v70 XC se Automatic transmission Replacement

Hey, guys, my automatic transmission is dead, it won't go in gear at all and I've checked everything that could cause that and transmission seems to be the issue. Does anyone have instructions on how to swap a transmission? It would be very appreciated.

see youtube. Its an ugly job, you have to pull the motor and trans. I just did it on a C70 I love. If I had known how much of a BitCh it was, I woudda sold the car and started over. I've been chasing codes since I got it running. Make sure the car is worth the expense adn trouble. IF its a high milage 2000, I would likely take the money and buy a different one, they are cheap enough these days. It aint like dropping a toploader from an old Mustang, I'll tell you that!

Ok, thanks for the reply, I would really like to get it running for the next few months since I am moving away and selling it with a broken transmission isn't really worth anything. I just have to find a transmission for an XC since it as the angle gear, and a normal fwd transmission won't cover that bit.

Not cheap, but try Chapman Motors on Vancouver Island. Not had a bad part from them and I know the local dealer has used them when new parts are too pricey for older cars.

I did one once. It was not even remotely close to what I would call a good time, lots of angry outbursts, tools being thrown and more anger.

Thanks for the help guys, I will have a look at Chapman's motors, if anyone sees a transmission let me know. I already miss driving it.

Good luck. Will keep an eye out for a transmission. Biggest issue are they seldom show up at junkyards, and if they do yo have to pull them yourself. Other time they turn up is on a car being scrapped, at least in that case you may be able to at least drive the car to see if the trans is good.

There is a lady mechanic I know who lives in Revelstoke the last I spoke to her. She has her own small repair shop and works on Volvos and had a 99 V70XC or 2. I will e-mail her and see if she is still around and may have a track on a transmission.
