The reason why you are safe inside a (metal body) car during a lightning storm is because of skin effect. The transmission of energy is along the surface of the metal, not through it.
To avoid static shocks when exiting your car you could cover your shoes with aluminum foil. Or 'leap' out of your car, making a clean disconnect from the car before you touch the ground.
