Volvo C70 99 4k rev limiter manual gearbox

Post by ToMasz224 »

Hello
sorry in advance for my english but i use google translator..

I have changed the engine to 2.3T5 from C70 1999 ME7 in my S70. The engine and ECU come from the version with automatic transmission. Since then, the engine does not want to exceed 4k rev. I bought a second ECU from the version with manual transmission but the problem did not disappear. I changed the rev counter, ECU and do I need anything else to change? Where is the problem?

I also have a C70 2.4 with a manual gearbox and the revs there exceed 4k

Problem is in CAN network which introduced in '99 with ME7 management.

You can't just swap ecu in these cars because they are "married" with the car.

They need to be re-programmed to match with your car and ALL other modules in the car.

It's a dealer thing, unless you can find some good tuner who can do this instead of Volvo dealer.

I understand. What if I take everything from one car to another? Is programming necessary then?

Every single module in the car is connected with each other via CAN network.

Not possible!

What engine did you had in s70?

The electronic scheme shows that CAN communication is between ECU, ETM, CDM and ABS. Everything was changed to the version with manual transmission.

I had the weakest 2.0 126hp Fenix5.2. I changed the wiring to the ME7 manual gearbox

Does the car run good at all with new engine, ecu and wiring?
Is the only problem with it...not reving past 4k rpm?

It's not that simple....take a closer look at a diagram at the bottom.
All those CAN symbols goes through some module, not just those that you mentioned.

The car works without a problem. No DTCs. Everything is correct except for the rev limit and lack of power above 4k rev. The module at the bottom is an OBDII disgnostic connector, it has no effect on the other modules

I don't have the answer to your question, except that there might be loss of communication in CAN network.

Live data diagnostic should be performed and then you will see what is the problem.

What does live data diagnostics mean?

Live parameters from all sensors while engine is running and while driving the car...TPS,O2 sensors,Maf,ETM...etc.
