AC not working each time it is repaired

I own a 2004 XC70 I have had the AC repaired multiple times. I just picked up my car. And true to form it didn't last till I got hiome. This has been going on for about the last three summers.
Is there a magic sequence of new parts? I have all my slips and can list what has been done. I can't be the only one with a 16 year old XC70 with this problem. Any suggestions?

It sounds like someone isn't leak testing it to make sure it holds charge, which is a basic function of an AC Tech

You should have it pumped down to vacuum and then test to see if it holds it. If not, you have to add a bit of refrigerant and use a leak tester to find the leaking components.

Do you lose all cold air or does it start cold and then go warm on you??

At least in one month you won't need it in the Pine Tree State

Expansion valve is likely bad. Replaced my 04 S80s last year. I'm assuming your car is not leaking freon that fast. The S80 would work intermittently and always while in for service naturally... if it's a freon leak, Abscate is right it will just have to be leak tested. June

it wasn't repaired, sounds like they just gassed it up and shipped it.
I'd find a place that listens to what I tell them.
or start researching DIY.

I have found that the Schrader valve where refrigerant is added often goes bad. Few people ever replace it and it is relatively cheap. I replace it as preventive maintenance if I find my A/C system needing a charge. It is often all I need to do to restore 100% functionality.

I was looking at the a/c radiator in the front of my 2001 xc70 and it seems the (mouth) air scoop has collected a few more rocks, I might put installing a mesh on the "urgent modification" list. This is the first place a technician will look at for damage/leaks.

The previous owner "updated" the front and rear bumpers, i have removed that lightbar, it looks stupid there.

Or this could be the slipping clutch all along.
If so, then the fix using zip ties is free.

Would also help letting us know what (or how) specifically is not working. No cold air at all, intermittent, not cold enough ?

After going through the slips for the last two years. I have determined they have only been re freoning. Not doing a leak test, So I will specifically ask to cheak for leaks, and NOT just fill with freon. I thought they understaood when I said the AC is not working. Works for a short time, then no cool air. I guess my language or my discription got lost in translation. (oh, I speak English and was born in Massachusetts) Thank you for all your input and replies. Works for a little then no cold air is the typical compressor clutch problem, would not have to do with the freon levels. Google up about 'ac compressor bread clip fix'. Needs handy finger to do it, but it should cost a decent $0. A mechanic that knows where to place clips or even sip tie should be good to do it in about 30 min or so

There could also be another issue if the air is still cool but very little air comes out off vents after 5-10 min. But if airflow is good just stops being cold, it's the thing above
