Volvo SC-900 Radio head question? Topic is solved

I picked up 2 x SC-900's at PnP yesterday. One is junk as it looks like it has been sitting wet and has serious corrosion on the motherboard.

The other looks ok and has cleaned up nicely. I can't test it until I get the Code for it.

However, there is a small piece of electricians tape stuck over one of the LED's (?) on the front. Any of you radio whizzo's know what the purpose of this red light is and why someone would put tape over it?

I am planning to return the other unit to PnP in the next couple of days as well as the Dolby unit (also rusted and loose components inside), so if this is a fault that is not easily repaired I will junk this one as well. It is a Volvo re-worked unit.

I believe that it’s the IR sensor
for the optional remote control.

If that is the case, any idea why someone would cover it with a bit of tape?

It is there Manovlov. Just bad picture. Just got code from dealer so will try it later and see what happens.
