Looks much nicer !! I didn't realize that they came stock with that harvest moon lens. That shape doesn't seem to tie into anything, except maybe a tire.

It would go well with an egg crate grill, completing the splatted egg look.

So in the past week I went to a wheel alignment shop. Boy, that was a exhausting experience. I had to go back, not once, but twice. The first time the mechanic didn't do much at all. He mounted the equipment on the wheels, saw him looking underneath the car and the first tool he gets is a blowtorch. I thought to myself: WHY? Everything is new underneath the car, inner AND outer tie-rods, the struts, the controlarms, you name it. Everything OEM, everything fastened with a torque wrench and with the OEM torque settings. It gave me a bad feeling. I get the car back in like 20 minutes, that was suspicious too because I asked for alignment for both axles, front and rear. I take it for a testdrive, nothing changed: the steering wheel isn't horizontal and the car pulls to the right on straight roads. I go back. Same mechanic, same story. Steering wheel isn't horizontal, car pulls to the right. I was thinking at first: I should go to a better place, because wheel alignment is a specialists job and not every mechanic is good at it (same go's for AC maintenance in my opinion). Plus, the shop didn't have any time left on that day and I was going away for the weekend. I didn't say much and left. But it nagged my brain so yesterday I went back. I have to give credit where credit is due, the personel were very helpfull and listened to me. I get a different mechanic. He puts the equipment on the wheels and gives me a bit of a confused look. "This isn't right", I can hear him mumble. After an hour (!) of work we both go for a testdrive. Steering wheel is perfectly horizontal and the car feels glued to the road. What a difference! Below I added a photo of the specs in which the wheels are aligned. Can somebody tell me if they did a good job?

I guess I have to translate a couple or terms to make this work

Voorzijde: front axle
Naloop: I don't really know how to translate this word... I thinks it's camber angle
Toespoor: toe-in
Wielvlucht: camber
Achter: rear axle

Looks to be within spec, about that mine was set to. Bad alignments are so frustrating! If I'm going to bring my car to you and pay for an alignment, you better do it right the first time! Most shops don't believe in that though.

Not everyone can do it. I've had bad experiences with alignment shops but found one that is the only one i trust and use.

Recharged the A/C on my new 98 S70 GLT. Also fixed various lights.

Dropped a driveshaft off a s70 AWD

Took 90 minutes
6mm hex bolts in each end come easily
Fought the two m8 bolts holding the center carrier for an hour.

Made some progress on my radiator/AC compressor replacement. Discovered a deficit of various bolts. Driver side radiator mount was broken and the whole rad/IC/AC sandwich was leaning quite a bit. Turns out I have a Nissens radiator, it was replaced in 2009 after rear ending an expedition. Probably still has lots of life remaining but I'm not about to remove an old radiator and not replace as a preventive measure. The front engine mount looks about done.

On a side note are these starter bolts suppose to be open and disconnected?

When those ears break on the radiator the plastic side cans take all the stress of the whole radiator intercooler and condensor sandwich bouncing up and down. This breaks them off, of course.

Those bolts on the starter are for the obsolete front starter mount ( towards front of engine, right side of car) that Volvo discontinued in 2003.

How do you even replace that engine mount? Is there a how-to available on the MVS website?

I washed my car today and gave it a good polish. See the results below

The clear coat is damaged on the hood. There's also a little rust spot. Anyone with a good tip/how-to to fix that? Or is it easier to find a used hood in the same color?
