Didn't your mother teach you not to throw parts (or your shop teacher!)
Current Volvos:
1998 V70 T5, 112k sat 5 years, still in mechanical coma (finally at the top of the pile )
2004 XC90 T6 AWD: 186k, 60 on transaxle ( traded in )
1998 POS70 N/A: DD/training aid, 236k but really about 240k, I think...ABS module( passed on to son who sold it)

On the edge of starting a thread for this crank, no-start.


!998 V70 NA
New reworked cylinder head - planing, valve lapping, valve guide seals

Compression test ok cold, wet at 150-180 psi
Have good spark at Number one plug
New cap and rotor
Supply voltage at fuel injectors in 12.4V with battery at 12.5V
Fuel pressure 38 psi at key on, 42 psi during cranking
Fuel pressure holds for 30 minutes
Engine timing confirmed correct, non VVT engine of course.

Did the PCV upgrade and it helped with the pressure.
I used ZionXlX's internal spring idea, but incorporated a EMT sweep for the 90*

3ft of the oil resistant 5/8" hose ( from a heavy equipment parts store )
4ft of the same in 1/4"
A relatively light compression spring
1/2" EMT sweep

$ 20 and change.

Don’t forget to remove the bracket from that starter in the right side

Volvo discontinued that and no longer replaces it

The two m10s and the pins hold the starter in fine.

Spark plugs new

Today’s chapter. Noticed engine relay was not pulling in. Swapped with air pump them spare.

Relay now pulls in

Still no start.

Have you checked for injector pulse?
