Please let me know if I should not buy a new OEM tank and Cap. When AC is engaged the Rad fan comes on immediately and stays on a few seconds after AC is off, the radiator fan does come on without the AC being on never paid much attention to when since it seems to all be fine.

My vehicle was showing normal temp on dash, coolant would reach the top of the tank and start leaking passed the cap. My fan was not coming on. A new ect sensor fixed the problem. It sounds like you already ruled that out. I was able to idle the engine and watch the coolant get almost to the top and then turn on the AC to trigger the radiator fan. The coolant would immediately drop as it cooled.

I heard this was a heated discussion on here, or maybe just a discussion, about the C70 Reaching top of coolant res and it was considered normal because i already had that happened to me after a drive, it gets 94* F here in the day. I had a few people on here say that was normal so ??

Air, water, windshield washer fluid, coolant, power steering fluid, engine oil , ATF. Gear oil, differential oil, brake fluid, Haldex fluid, blinker fluid, grease, compressed air.
I wonder if it could be the cap itself, they have no rubber gasket on the back side like the oil filler cap does which is surprising considering all that heat and pressure. The cap used on the new EURO tank was the old original Volvo one.
Something is not right pertaining to no rubber gasket. It should leak quite a bit without a gasket. FCP picture shows on black gasket. Since I just replaced the S80's radiator cap with a new one I thought I saw a gasket.

I have yet to see one of these OEM caps with a rubber gasket seal on the bottom of the cap, weird!

Look at my post from july 22nd on this same topic, I just want to be sure I have no issues, i'm disabled and can not walk far at all, so I don't want to be broke down on side of road in the Colorado / Raton NM pass. We are thinking of taking the C70 on a short road trip to Colorado and back, around 50 miles round trip but I do not want to have to worry about coolant issues on the trip. We just want to make sure it is road ready before taking any long trips.

Ok. Here's where i'm at this morning. I drove my wife to work, which is only probably 2 to 3 miles round trip. When we arrived at her work I sat at idle in her parking lot for 10 minutes at least, the Radiator fan never came on, the temperature gauge was at normal range in the middle by the time we got to her work. So after sitting there for 10 minutes or so I then drove back home, at this point Rad. fan has not engaged yet, so when I arrived home I sat in our drive at idle probably another 10 minutes at which point still no Radiator fan coming on.
I popped the hood at this point and started watching the expansion tank, the fluid level starting rising and was 3/4 of the way up towards the top of tank at this point so I decided to engage the A/C, the Radiator fan immediately came on and I went to watch expansion tank and the coolant level immediately started to drop back down to normal level, I let it run 5 minutes maybe with A/C on then turned A/C off. The fan ran another 20-25 seconds after the A/C was turned off then I killed it. The temp gauge seems to work properly, it slowly rises in the morning after starting the engine on the trip to my wife's work then once at dead center on gauge it goes no further. It was 68*F this morning outside not the normal 94* like mid day, this might be a factor, not sure any more ideas before I buy a tank and cap please let me know.
