Its been a while since I studied this. The only issue I was able to identify was that the dino oils formulated for use in separate differentials had “extreme pressure” (EP) additives which seemed to be mainly sulfur. When used in a transaxle with brass synchros these sulfur additives could become pretty destructive to brass in the presence of a small amount of water contamination,
