18 seconds of the great Ford GT40 289. Actually a caged animal disguised as a racecar.




If anyone is curious, that fantastic sound out of an American small block V8 is due to "180 degree" headers, where the two middle exhaust ports on each side are crossed over the engine to join with the opposite side #1 and #4 header pipes at the collector. It aids in high rpm exhaust scavenging with this particular firing order.

Not sure why but that reminded me of Peter Brock. Perhaps it's the idea of taming an animal disguised as a racecar?

But that one’s plastic! (and that looks tragic)

I seem to dig up that GT40 spin once a year and watch it like ten times. I love that sound!

(You can only do the 180 crossover headers in a mid engine car where you have the space)

Sounds magnificent. Gorgeous. That looks like the Dragon's Tail road in Tennessee(?). I've never been there, I only know if through Internet videos.
