Converted 2.4 S40 to T5 engine and manual gearbox

Post by Ando377 »

Ok need some help please people. I wrote off my S40 T5 and not know of the vin coding of these cars I bought a S40 2.4 auto and did a full full motor and gear box swap converting the 2.4 auto to a T5 engine and m66 manual , I did the complete swap then found out about the VIN coding. Obviously the car wouldn't wind over at this point all I did was fit the T5 and box and used the T5 engine harness . Now some time later I've swapped out all the necessary modules and swapped over the engine bay harness with still no cranking from the key, I have the dash harness ready to go in but would like to know if I can at all bridge any of the wires in the GSM plug to complete the inhibitor circuit. The way I'm thinking bus as I haven't changed the dash harness which has the auto GSM wiring I'm thinking even though I've got the T5 cem the GSM being plugged into the cem even though the TCM isn't in the vehicle or the associated wiring loom for it that the inhibitor wires or how ever it works is preventing the car from starting because the the GSM wires are not closing any circut where the pins are connected in the cem plug. So if anyone can read a wiring schematic and figure out if any of the wires in the GSM plug can be bridged to close the inhibitor circuit I would be so grateful as I'm dreading doing the dash loom change as it involves basically a complete dash teardown. And if this turns out not to be the issue is there any one in the Newcastle or port Stephens area that has a VIDA/DICE they could possibly bring and hook up on my s40 to try and see what's stopping it from starting please I'm willing to pay for your time and use of the scan tool

Unless you left out a piece of critical information, you are over thinking this. Original wiring and modules should work with a little reprogramming.

If the ECM and CEM are from different cars, the car is inmobilized. The ECM and CEM will need to be synced. Some of the security data is in the CEM and some is in the ECM they need to match. If you have a Dice unit member Yagger can do it over the internet for a fee. He can also change VIN numbers in the CEM.

The ECM ,CEM, BCM, DIM, ICM, DDM, PDM, RRX, SCU, Air bag module, engine loom and the engine bay loom with fuse box are all out of my donor T5 S40 that was 100% running and functional before I wrecked it

I don't think I'm over thinking things because three Of GSM wires go back to the cem 2 go into the connector plugs behind the passenger kick Panel theyn into the engine bay harness and I assume into the fuse box in the engine bay. If you look at the pic I've posted the harness the black arrow is pointing at the 2.4 GSM plug iand that loom is what is still in the car and it's the original harness for the 2.4 and I forgot to mention the 2.4 is naturally aspirated automatic the harness with the pink arrow is out of the T5 (2.5 turbo with m66 6 SPD manual ) as you can see there's no GSM plug on the T5 loom and as it is now the 2.4 auto dash harness is connected to the T5 manual cem and from there the is what I'm presuming is the problem because in the GSM is the safety inhibitor switch that don't exist in a manual selector so what I am hoping is that I could bridge the wirers at the GSM plug to do what the inhibitor does when connected ,close the circuit and allow the engine to wind Over. Does any one know if this would work for starters and if so what wirers need bridging

Hey Ando377, what ended up happening with this project? I'm very interested in doing something similar myself. I'm also in the Newcastle/Port Stephens area.
