Straight to the point. 2006 s60R 150k miles. Been a month or 2 since my fiasco with timing belt/water pump. But since then, the car has been driving great. Just one small concern. My s60r makes a lot of 'intake sucking' noise when i'm accelerating and very loud 'whoosh' noise upon letting off throttle (just like a B.O.V. sounds) more so than I've heard on other s60r's. I do have a open filter intake (no air box, just intake tube to filter) as well as a slightly larger in diameter, aluminum intake pipe. I know this will make those noises more pronounced but I still feel as if mine may be a little excessive, maybe leaning towards more of a problem such as a boost/vac leak somewhere. I even hooked up a diff boost gauge to see if my readings were right. Any insight is much appreciated.

I'm starting to think there's too much 'whoosh' and sucking noises

If I were you I'd ditch that filter. AFAIK your engine gets enough air from the stock filter/box. The sound, as you describe, is also annoying.

I agree. As much as I love a good 'whoosh', these ones are just a tad excessive lol And i would get the old air box back if i could locate one. I live in the middle of nowhere.
