first I would like to thank all who participate in this site your help is truly appreciated.
car is a 2001 Volvo v70 car has a crank no start issue I have been trying to trace this down and it appears that the etm does not click or whine on turning key to position 2 I checked fuse 7 ( etm fuse ) and it is intact. there is no voltage at the fuse per xemodex flowcharts, I replaced the main engine relay but still o success still no power to fuse 7 ( also there is no power to fuses 5-8) either.
my question is could this be a fuse block problem or does the ETM turn on power to the fuse block ie fuse 7.
I appreciate any help as I don't know where to turn next
thanks
steve

Based on the 2002 wiring diagram I have check fuse 11B/23, which supplies power to the main engine relay. Have you measured if there's voltage to the FMA2 main engine relay?spineda wrote: ↑03 Dec 2020, 20:15 first I would like to thank all who participate in this site your help is truly appreciated.

1 will check the fuse but which one is 11b/23 the fuses in the box are numbered. but there does appear to be power to one of the terminals pf the main relay I will look and check the other fuses in the block but if they seem just ot labeled numerically I believe thanks steve

See attachments, it's a 5A fuse.spineda wrote: ↑04 Dec 2020, 11:34 1 will check the fuse but which one is 11b/23 the fuses in the box are numbered. but there does appear to be power to one of the terminals pf the main relay I will look and check the other fuses in the block but if they seem just ot labeled numerically I believe thanks steve
thank you so much I will check the fuse tomorrow
the situation I have is that fuses 1 2 and 3 in the block have power but fuses 4 - 8 have no power with key on I did not know if the ECU needed to send
power to those fuses when key is turned on or is it a bad fuse block in either case I will check fuse 23 tomorrow again many thanks

Have you looked at the key switch at all? Mine went out and caused weird problems.
I did have a bad fuse block on an old 740 I bought, so it is possible.
On those under hood fuses it looks like 1 and 2 are tied together (with 10,12,13,16) and 3,4,5,6,7,8,11 are tied together. So it is strange 3 has power and 4-8 do not. 3-8,11 go thru FMA2.

SEEMS TO BR SOLVED !!!
the problem seems to be the fuse 23
when I replaced the fuse the etm clicked there was power at fuse 7 and then the car started. I will put the car back together and test drive it but hopefully it is done!!
Thanks you to all

Just an FYI, and I don't know if it matters for your specific issue, but the 2001 used a problematic MM throttle body and the 2002 (at least my old XC70 did) used a more reliable Bosch throttle body. I am not sure if the wiring is any different between the two, but it is something to consider when relying on wiring diagrams.
