Re: Light warning ⚠ issue

Here's the response I received from Joshua at XeMODex about the bulb out warning for multiple lights. This is his second response after I describe the REM problem better. Sure appreciate how quickly they respond and provide helpful information. I wasn't aware of "Volvo Service 2.0".

<<< Oh I see. Sorry I misunderstood. That's a little different then. I'd suspect software first. There's actually a REM software upgrade pending for this VIN. Along with a CEM upgrade, CCM upgrade, and a DIM upgrade.

Before doing anything with the hardware, it would be best to see if the software upgrade yields any results. These software upgrades can be done at any Volvo specialist with VIDA, or of course they can be done at a Volvo dealer.

Usually these upgrades are best done at the dealer since they would be done at no charge under Volvo Service 2.0. It used to be completely free, but they've changed the wording to say "free with any service", so they may make you do something.

If issues persist after the REM software upgrade, then have them check for codes while they're in there. See if there's anything that will help narrow things down. >>>

I am under the impression that the software updates were installed a month ago when the etm was replaced and software installed

I'm a little confused as to what they actually did they checked the system and did etm reload and replace.
She then said ecm update but mentioned no other modules.. I'm assuming because the rem cem doesn't deal with etm that they have ignored them so now will have to pay £126 for diagnostics (vida time) to check.....

It says free software upgrades, not sure of the fine print but this is worth checking out.

Free software when service is purchased.... At dealers prices I'd rather slit my throat.. Because they have no history past 2006 they want to do a major service at nearly £600 😂😂💷🔥

So that's how it works, that's certainly not customer service friendly. I actually don't think a software update is going to fix the problem you're seeing anyway. I wish I new if you could purchase a specific used REM and have the existing programming work, I've read this works for some parts such as the DIM if you get the correct year and part number. There's a good selection of used REMs on Ebay and I also saw a new REM (in Hungary) for $200, which would need programming but wouldn't want you to spend this much money without knowing for sure it would fix the problem. The XeMODex option where you can send in the REM to see if they can confirm the fault may be the best path but this would put your car out of commission for the shipping and test time needed.

Been looking on ebay too a used rem for £20 it's minus the fuse section and has no shunts or relays... Does the middle of the unit (the circuit board

Yes, the center section unclips and slides out. All the relays and shunts need to be removed first and it would be a good idea to to label and take a picture before removing everything. Still don't know about the compatibility of the software though.

Oh OK, for the sake of £20 I might try it. I'll match the part numbers and have a lookski to see if it's like the door modules with a software code sticker.
that's how I did my PDM and it works a treat...
