Oil Filter Pleats - is dented ok?

Hi, I went to change my oil today and pulled out an OEM filter I had stored in the trunk area. Unfortunately it had been dented by the underside of the trunk lid (rear cargo storage area on xc60) . I straightened it out as much as possible and used another new one I had on the shelf, but I'm wondering if this is safe to use the next time I need a filter change. Was thinking maybe once it's on the filter housing it would straighten out (pressing gently from the inside straightens the pleats). Any thoughts? Thanks in advance!
